School W.A.T.C.H Program |
|
Over the last few years the Pomona Community House has provided innovative programmes to Pomona and Cooran districts. This project School W.A.T.C.H. is part of an ongoing series of programmes to support families and young people in the hinterland.
Our goal is to increase community participation by providing opportunities for individuals and groups within the broader community to come together for the benefit of all.
We have brought together the Sathya Sai U-turn Training School and Sunshine Coast Regional Council (Noosa Council) to provide this exciting programme for the grade seven students at Cooran State School.
The Students will be constructing billycarts as part of their leadership awareness goals and they are supported and mentored by volunteers from Pomona Community House and School W.A.T.C.H.
All parents have only one wish for their children and that is to see them grow up into happy responsible adults. However, we do live in difficult times and there are many issues threatening our young ones. Their need is to be strong enough to resist these outside influences. This can be achieved by developing strong values like honesty, self-discipline, determination, compassion and responsibility.
When these are brought together they exemplify good character and this then forms the basis for a good leader. The School W.A.T.C.H. programme examines on a daily basis the meaning of an acronym of W.A.T.C.H. and Trust. This relates to “Watch your Words, Actions, Thoughts, Character, Heart and Trust.
The W.A.T.C.H. programme aims to develop leadership qualities in the students and their natural awareness towards:
· Respect for parents and teachers · Self confidence and Courage · Honesty and Integrity · Acceptance of all religions, races and cultures · Love for life and the environment · Inner calm and steadiness · Reliability, punctuality and cleanliness Skills for life For more Photos go to School WATCH Gallery
