Pomona & District Community House and the ‘Older People Actively Living’ Programme hosted a fun Harvest Luncheon on Thursday 10th April at the Cooroy RSL for our hinterland seniors.

Tables were decorated with Autumn foliage, candles in real apple candle holders and welcome cards. Everyone was encouraged to wear their Autumn colours, with the best effort from the residents of Kabara and their carers, who turned up in their flannel shirts and straw hats as the ‘Cooroy Bean Pickers’!!  The atmosphere was warm, caring and friendly and the mood light and fun. Staff and volunteers of Pomona & District Community House helped our guests feel welcome and comfortable.

The Cooroy RSL provided a magnificent 2 course meal of Beef roast with vegetables, followed with hot fruit crumble and custard. A few guests had special diet needs, which were catered for beautifully.

Local musician Piet Sanders and friends treated us to lovely acoustic guitar music. The days raffle provided a few giggles, with two prizes being huge home grown organic pumpkins! Both pumpkins went to residents at the ‘Shell Villages and Resort’, Cooroy, who will be eating pumpkin for weeks!

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the day being such a success.  Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Council, (Noosa) Community Development unit for their generous sponsorship and support.

Date for the next luncheon is 12th June. The theme is “Wear your Winter Woollies’. Please phone Pomona & District Community House on 54852427 for Bookings and details. As in previous lunches, special diets are catered for on request, and limited transport available. BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL
